Role
Prime contractor — bridge rehabilitation including replacement of deficient bridge elements.
Scope
Rehabilitation and replacement of deficient bridge elements including barriers, deck, joints, bearings, steel members, and painting of superstructure and substructure steel.

Prior Leadership Experience

Selected projects from Hristos Daskalakis's prior career spanning over 15 years in bridge rehabilitation, protective coatings, and landmark industrial structures, held in senior leadership roles before founding SYGMA LLC.

RFK Bridge — Wind Retrofit & Structural Rehabilitation, East River Suspension Spans (RK-19A Design-Build)

New York City, New York

Role
Vice President, Commodore Construction Corp. — overseeing all aspects of design, engineering, scheduling, coordination, construction, and timely completion.
Scope
Design-build contract for wind retrofit and structural rehabilitation of the RFK Bridge East River Suspended Spans, Queens Anchorage, and Wards Island Anchorage. Scope includes new widened sidewalks and walkways for pedestrian and bicycle access, live load and seismic improvements, state-of-good repairs, new main cable and anchorage dehumidification, cable acoustic monitoring, weigh-in-motion systems, architectural lighting at bridge towers, and overcoat painting of steel superstructures. Contract value: $409,000,000.

RFK Bridge — Queens Approach Painting (PT Phase II)

Role
Vice President, Commodore Construction Corp. — ensuring project manager is ahead of schedule and within budget; financial and insurance reviews; change order negotiation.
Scope
Cleaning, brush blasting (SSPC SP-7), and painting of the RFK Bridge Queens Approach. Installation of 175,000 SF of suspended temporary platform. Contract value: $17,890,000.

MTA Elevated Structure — Kings Highway to West 8th Street

Role
Vice President, Commodore Construction Corp. — overseeing project manager and construction manager; stakeholder coordination; financial review; change order negotiation; subcontractor and MBE utilization; union liaison.
Scope
Installation of over 700,000 SF of suspended temporary platform. Abrasive blasting (SSPC SP-10), painting, and steel repairs on track-level girders, below-track girders, columns, and stringers. Contract value: $69,989,000.

Protective Coating of Various Bridges — Queens

Queens, New York

Role
Vice President, Commodore Construction Corp. — overseeing project manager and superintendent; schedule, budget, and quality oversight; stakeholder communication and coordination.
Scope
Cleaning, near-white metal blasting (SSPC SP-10), and painting of six bridges including two movable bridges throughout Queens. Installation of 80,000 SF of suspended temporary platform. Contract value: $17,898,888.

NJDOT Signature Bridges — Somers Point & I-295 over Rancocas Creek

Role
Vice President, Commodore Construction Corp. — overseeing project manager and superintendent; schedule, budget, and quality verification.
Scope
Installation of 375,000 SF of suspended temporary platform. Cleaning, near-white metal blasting (SSPC SP-10), and painting of the Somers Point Bridge over Broad Thorofare and two bridges on I-295 over Rancocas Creek. Contract value: $18,578,900.

Bayonne Bridge — Replacement of the Main Span Roadway and Approach Structures

Bayonne, New Jersey / Staten Island, New York

Role
Senior Executive Officer — senior leadership oversight of one of the largest bridge infrastructure projects in North American history, delivered in partnership with the Skanska/Kiewit Joint Venture.
Scope
Replacement of the main span roadway and approach structures of the Bayonne Bridge, raising the navigational clearance from 151 feet to 215 feet to accommodate post-Panamax container ships serving the Port of New York and New Jersey. Executed in partnership with the Skanska/Kiewit JV. One of the most complex and consequential bridge rehabilitation and reconstruction projects ever undertaken in the Northeast. Contract value: $1,500,000,000.

Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge — Structural Steel Repairs and Painting (Contract VN-32/VN-49X)

New York City, New York

Role
Senior Executive Officer — senior leadership oversight spanning nearly a decade of continuous work on one of New York's most iconic suspension bridges.
Scope
Structural steel repairs and full protective coating of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge under Contract No. VN-32/VN-49X. Multi-year engagement covering surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and painting of superstructure and substructure steel on this landmark twin-deck suspension bridge. Contract value: $73,888,873.

FDR Drive — South Street Viaduct Steel Superstructure Cleaning and Painting

New York City, New York

Role
Senior Executive Officer — senior leadership oversight of surface preparation and protective coating operations on a major elevated urban viaduct.
Scope
Cleaning and painting of the steel superstructure of the FDR Drive South Street Viaduct. Work performed to protect the structure from corrosion and extend service life. Contract value: $33,000,000.

Brooklyn Bridge — Rehabilitation, Ramp Repair, Re-Striping & Full Repainting (Contract #6)

New York City, New York

Role
Senior Executive Officer — senior leadership oversight of a landmark multi-year rehabilitation and repainting program on one of the world's most recognized bridges, executed in partnership with Skanska.
Scope
Rehabilitation, repair, and re-striping of the ramps and approaches to the Brooklyn Bridge to improve safety and reduce congestion on both the Brooklyn-side and Manhattan-side approaches from the FDR Drive. Full repainting of the entire bridge to prevent steel corrosion. Painting conducted in negative-pressure containment units traveling along the bridge structure over approximately four years. All work performed in compliance with US EPA and NYS DEC requirements, with continuous air monitoring, dust collection, vacuum and recycling units, and noise levels conforming to NYC Noise Code standards. Executed in partnership with Skanska. Original contract award: $502,000,000; final value with change orders: $833,000,000.

Queensboro Bridge — Full Painting

New York City, New York

Role
Senior Executive Officer — senior leadership oversight of one of the largest bridge painting contracts in New York City history.
Scope
Complete painting of the Queensboro Bridge (59th Street Bridge), a landmark cantilever truss bridge spanning the East River between Manhattan and Queens. Contract value: $154,000,000.

Bronx-Whitestone Bridge — Cleaning, Painting & Suspension System Repair (Contract BW-85/85/WBM-339)

Bronx / Queens, New York

Role
Project Manager / Superintendent — direct field management and project oversight of cleaning, painting, and suspension system repair operations.
Scope
Cleaning and painting of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge at various locations, including repair of the suspension system. Contract No. BW-85/85/WBM-339. Contract value: $18,487,510.

NASA Lunar Landing Gantry — Surface Preparation and Painting

United States

Role
Senior leadership oversight — surface preparation and protective coating of a nationally designated historic landmark structure.
Scope
Surface preparation and full painting of the NASA Lunar Landing Gantry, the landmark steel structure used to simulate the Apollo lunar landing missions in the 1960s. Work required specialized coatings expertise on a historically significant and structurally unique industrial structure. Contract value: $17,300,000.
